Inspired by the wooded surroundings of Rydal, home to William Wordsworth for over thirty years, the Rydal Oudh Botanical Soy Wax Candle by Agnes + Cat is a fragrance of depth and quiet reflection. Bergamot and orange open into a powdery violet and rose heart, before patchouli and sandalwood bring a rich, grounding finish.
Hand-poured in Sheffield using 100% natural soy wax with real dried flowers visible through the glass and a sustainably sourced crackling wooden wick. A 350g soy wax fill gives up to 40 hours of burn time. The illustrated gift box depicts the trees and natural surroundings associated with Rydal and its literary heritage with silver foil detailing and a verse from Wordsworth’s Resolution and Independence. Natural variation in the botanicals means each candle is a unique piece.

Trim the wooden wick to approximately 5mm before your first burn. Allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the jar on this first use, approximately 2 to 3 hours. This sets the wax memory and ensures even, consistent burning for the entire life of the candle.
Trim the wick to 5mm before each use. Burn for a maximum of 4 hours at a time on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from draughts, curtains, and flammable materials. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
The gentle crackle of the wooden wick is part of the experience. Trim away any charred wood between burns to maintain a strong, clean flame. If the flame appears low, extinguish fully, allow to cool, then trim before relighting.
This candle contains real dried botanicals. Keep the dried flowers away from the wick at all times while burning. Botanicals may ignite if they come into contact with the flame.
The glass jar is designed to be kept. Fill with boiling water to release remaining wax, allow to cool, then remove and wash with warm soapy water. A beautiful vessel for any room in the house.
Warm and quietly complex. Bergamot and orange give a bright opening before powdery violet and rose create a soft atmospheric heart. Patchouli and sandalwood in the base add depth and a woody earthiness that makes this one of the most distinctive fragrances in the collection.
Evenings and quieter moments. Its depth and warmth make it ideal for reading, unwinding, or creating a calm atmosphere in living rooms and studies.
With proper wick care, trimming to 5mm before each burn and keeping sessions to a maximum of 4 hours, you can expect up to 40 hours of burn time.
Soy wax is a natural, plant-based material that burns cleaner and longer than paraffin. It produces minimal soot, is kinder to your home environment, and carries fragrance beautifully throughout the burn.
A wooden wick is a sustainably sourced piece of wood that burns with a gentle crackling sound, similar to a log fire. It burns evenly and cleanly, adding a wonderful sensory element to the experience.
The dried flowers are decorative and should be kept away from the wick at all times while burning. Botanicals may ignite if they come into contact with the flame. Please supervise your candle and ensure the flowers remain clear of the flame at all times.
Absolutely. Once the candle is spent, fill with boiling water to loosen any remaining wax, allow to cool, then remove and wash with warm soapy water. A beautiful vessel for any surface in your home.
